Ben was on the bus to the airport at 7am this morning headed back to Boston. We really enjoyed his company and from our viewpoint it was a wonderful week. The apartment seems quite empty now.

The next two weeks will be at a pace more suitable for a couple of older folks. Take today for an example. After seeing Ben off Harry went back to bed and we didn’t arise until a much more civilized hour. I went out for a walk midday just wandering through the streets taking photographs and window-shopping for a few hours. Since I found myself walking by the El Born Cultural Center I did stop in investigate. El Born opened as Barcelona’s central market in 1876 and closed in the 1970’s. It has now been renovated into a cultural and historic center. During the renovation the ruins of medieval houses were discovered under the buildings foundations. There are now walkways over the ruins. The informational panels (in Catalan, Spanish and English) explain the ruins and historical events that occurred in this area.
In my absence Harry was (sort of) catching up with photo processing and blog preparation.
After I returned we went out for Brunch (3pm). Then it was time for siesta. Now it’s time for wine, cheese and olives. We may or may not actually head out for dinner. This was definitely a rest day.
Tomorrow we will actually go sightseeing.
