Harry walked to an electronics store to buy a charger (any trip of ours is not complete without at least one electronics purchase) walked to the market – had lunch – walked back to the apartment.
Ben walked a few miles to have lunch at an Anthony Burdain recommended stand up Tapas Bar – walked back to the Placa Catalunya where he found Marsha (Find Friends) and they together walked the full length of the Rambla to the Columbus monument and then along the waterfront back to our apartment.
We awoke from siesta by the sound of 20 drums reverberating through the narrow streets. The sound increasing exponentially as they passed us six stories below.
For his final dinner of this trip Ben chose to return to Restaurant Sensi just down the block. We chose an entirely different selection of Tapas and were not disappointed in the quality, presentation or the service. Terrific place.
We took a stroll after dinner. Ben, of course, took a longer route. Marsha followed her sense of direction back (something that is not always easy in the curving narrow streets of the old city) and happened upon the Porta del Mar, which, it turns out, is just around the corner from our apartment. The round roman tower was part of the main gate into the old city. It was rediscovered in the 1980’s during work for the construction of a new civic center. There is outdoor seating there for a restaurant across the street so we will no doubt be back to enjoy the scene.
