This morning on the Outer Banks of North Carolina our hotel room balcony was in full sun and sitting there with a cup of hot coffee was delightful. This was the start of a fun day outdoors.

Just a few miles down the road was the Wright Brothers National Memorial. We had visited this site once before but since Marsha will be leading a Lexington Historical Society Book Club discussion of David McCullough’s recent Wright Brothers book later this month reviewing their exhibits and monuments was timely.
Charles Kurault always encouraged the traveller to stay off the interstates. We followed his advice today and had a lovely drive along the eastern shore of Virginia and Maryland. Crossing Chesapeake Bay on the extensive bridges and tunnels is always a treat as it was today.
