We had so much fun yesterday availing ourselves of the Park Service Jazz events that we decided to do it again today.

First up at the park headquarters was the Treme Brass Band. This program invited kids to bring their own instruments and join members of the Band. Sitting in with the band today were a seven year old trombone player playing alongside his Dad , an eight year old Trumpet player (whose father is also a trumpet player), a 15 year old trumpet player and a 15 year old Saxaphone player. There were also a few toddlers who arrived with their toy instruments and grooved to the music. We had a foot stomping, hand clapping good time. Keep the name Leon Brown Jr. in mind as that eight year old is already a seriously good player.
We took a break at Café de Monde for Beignets and Coffee and then headed to the Mint for their afternoon program featuring Pianist Steve Pitourious performing traditional New Orleans jazz. His program included Ragtime and stride favorites along with the jazz selections. Good toe tapping music.
Harry headed back while I stayed in the French Quarter for another hour just walking the streets enjoying the architecture, Mardi Gras decorations, and street music. Towards the end I past through Jackson Square just as a wedding party was leaving the cathedral. Their exit was accompanied by a brass band was like a joyous second line parade with umbrellas pumping up and down and white handkerchiefs waving. What a way to celebrate.
