Since we have already been to Huntsville, Alabama (rocket design) and Cape Canaveral (launch facilities) there was only one part of the Space Program left to see: Mission Control. So today we spent the day at Space Center Houston watching films, checking out the exhibits and taking the tram tour of the Johnson Space Center. The NASA tram tour took us to the original mission control room, which is truly a blast from the past. From the enclosed walkway above the massive Astronaut Training Facility we were able to see full size simulators of the space station, rovers and much more.

One of the things you can do while visiting Space Center Houston is to go on a tram ride through the Johnson Space Center. This is where the real work of controlling space missions occurs -- the Space Center Houston is an exhibit for visitors.
The tram takes you to three locations: The Mission Control Center, the Space Vehicle Mockup Facility, and an exhibit of an actual Saturn V rocket that was used in the Apollo program.
For, the Mission Control Center where the Apollo missions were controlled.

After our time at the Space Center we headed to John and Sarah’s to meet them for dinner. Even with Goggle Maps the intersecting roads of Houston in the late afternoon traffic presented a challenge. After a few missed turns we decided it was time to turn on the oral prompts so we might have a chance of being in the correct lane.
After NASA we went back to Sarah and John's before dinner.

We had a great TexMex dinner tonight at El Tiempo on Richmond Ave. There are seven locations of this restaurant in Houston. Sarah and John picked the restaurant and ordered for us all. Beef Fajitas all around. Served with the meat and onions still sizzling away on a portable stove. The meat was incredibly tender and the tortillas fresh. We piled on all the fixins including a dollop of garlic butter on top. Yum!
